SURELY Scotland can't heap more misery on England in this Cricket World Cup? Surely not Joe Drabble (@Joe_Drabbs)?

England v Scotland | Sunday 22:00 | Sky Sports 2

‘Things…can only get better.' Surely, surely this is the perfect fixture for England to get their World Cup campaign back on track?

The Scots have never won a match in the World Cup but will be fancying their chances of embarrassing their neighbours in Christchurch on Sunday, with confidence clearly low in the England camp. I've seen worse 7/1 shots (Sportingbet) than Scotland here but I'm heading straight to some unbelievable value in the top batsman market.

I'm anticipating team changes for England after heavy defeats to Australia and New Zealand, with Gary Ballance rumoured to be relieved from the No.3 spot. Alex Hales & Ravi Bopara are primed for a recall and I wouldn't be at all be surprised to see James Taylor elevated to that position.

Even if he's not, the 20/1 with Paddy Power for Taylor to be the top match batsman looks huge given his recent form. Bopara can be backed at a juicy 30/1 with 888 Sport, while Paddy Power are offering a massive 55/1 on Jos Buttler. He is around 20/1 elsewhere. At those prices, all are worth backing.

Best Bets

England v Scotland – James Taylor to be Top Match Batsman (20/1 Paddy Power)

England v Scotland – Ravi Bopara to be Top Match Batsman (30/1 888 Sport)

England v Scotland – Jos Buttler to be Top Match Batsman (55/1 Paddy Power)

  1. Some quite bonkers prices indeed! I think there are some prices worth a look in the Scot’s lower order too. If England’s bowlers come out fast to try and prove a point after the ‘game’ against New Zealand then one of the Scottish Bowlers could be worth a look for Top Scottish Bat. Haq is available at 200/1 which seems rather ludicrous and not that farfetched if all he needs is 20 or 30 runs.
