Tottenham v Sheffield United | Wednesday 19:45 | Sky Sports 1

It's a big night for Tottenham Hotspur as they entertain Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg. The North London club are strong favourites to reach their first cup final in five years.

Some commentators have said that Tottenham have had an easy route to the semi-finals here, but I've been impressed by the way they've fought there the competition despite playing weaker line-ups than usual.

Sheffield United have done amazing getting this far in the competition. Nigel Clough's side have beaten Mansfield, my own side West Ham, Leyton Orient, MK Dons and Southampton and with QPR also dismissed in the FA Cup, they're looking to make Spurs their fourth Premier League victim of the season. Late goals have been their forte, and it shows the spirit of the side that they never know they're beaten.

I expect Tottenham to line up much stronger on Wednesday than in previous rounds and on the flanks they should dominate. The League One side look weak in that area with Craig Alcock and Bob Harris, plus their main right back Ryan Flynn looks out and that's a big loss.

I expect we'll see Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend on the right and Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen on the left. That looks a pretty formidable line up and will be very hard for Sheffield United to stop. I wouldn't be surprised if Tottenham came flying out the blocks, get a few early goals and kill the tie.

Spurs have scored two goals or more at half time in three of their last five home matches and I expect them to start well here. Sheffield United should play just one up top in Marc McNulty or Jose Baxter and pack the midfield, so will be vulnerable to numerous attacks.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have scored in the first half of 12 of their 20 home games this season. I feel they could get off to a flyer again on Wednesday night.

I was brought into the betting world from a young age when my parents asked me to pick out a few horses. I’ve been hooked since but only seriously started punting in the past four years. I’ve used my wealth of knowledge from the English game along with my passion for stats and trends to try to find that winning angle. I work hard but enjoy nothing more than studying the form in the hope of getting that extra edge, whether it be from the non-leagues or the Premier League. And if I can help anyone pocket a few quid, it makes the hard work even more worthwhile.
