Arsenal v Leicester – Gunners hot-shots can down Foxes

ARSENAL welcome Leicester to The Emirates on Monday evening. Football journalist Adam Goodwin (@AGJournalism) runs the rule over the best betting options.

After a slow start, Arsenal are really starting to kick into gear now and have won their last nine games in all competitions. Unai Emery seems to have freshened things up around The Emirates and things are looking pretty rosy. They’ve scored 27 goals in those nine games and you wouldn’t put it past them to bag another hatful here.

Arsenal have only been beaten by the Manchester teams at home within the last 12 months (City x2, United x1) and tend to always perform well in-front of their home fans in North London. Within the last year, they’ve only failed to score one than once four times and they’ve scored three or more goals on nine occasions in that period.

Strike pair Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang look like they could be the key to more Gunners goals and they’re both in fine form. The duo have bagged eight goals between them so far this campaign and it looks like they’ll be partnering each other up-front on Monday night.

Leicester

Claude Puel’s side have been inconsistent, to say the least, so far this season and currently sit 10th with four wins and four losses from their opening eight games.

You could argue the Foxes they were extremely unlucky to not get something from the defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool, and Wes Morgan was sent off in their other two losses to Bournemouth and Everton. Perhaps they’ve been better than the table suggests so far and this game at The Emirates should be a real test for the visitors.

In their last five away games, they’ve scored 11 goals (including four at Wembley against Tottenham) and seem better suited when playing away from the King Power.

Despite their ability to score goals on the road, Leicester fail to get results when travelling away to the Premier League’s big boys. They lost with both sides scoring away at Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in the last campaign, along with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United earlier this term.

The betting angle

The angle I’m going to take here is, quite clearly, going to be goals. There’re a few different markets I could get involved in but I’m just going to have the two bets here.

The first is Arsenal to win and Both Teams To Score at 9/5 with Betfair. Arsenal are in unstoppable form at the moment and, whilst I think Leicester will give them a good game, I think Emery’s side can record that tenth consecutive win.

I also like the look of over 4.5 goals which is available at 3/1 with Paddy Power. Leicester have already shown they can score goals away from home and Arsenal will always bag a few at The Emirates so I think this looks a good bet.

Let’s hope for a repeat of the 4-3 we saw between these two in the first game of last season.

I got into betting through my love of sport and started as soon as I turned 18. Football is the main sport I bet on and I like to try out new and obscure markets to try and find value. You can't beat a 8-fold accumulator on a Saturday though! I support Reading and try to get to as many games as possible when I'm back home from university.
