This week has marked the beginning of the inaugural UEFA Nations League and the action continues Sunday evening as world champions France host the Netherlands.

France

The French began life as World Champions with a goalless draw away in Germany on Thursday, the other team in this mini group. That result itself would have given them a lot of confidence to go on and try to topple this group, which could have been a lot easier.

Arguably, France have some of the best talent in the world and that was clearly showcased in the World Cup, growing into the tournament within the later stages and easily seeing off Croatia in the final.

France could really assert their world dominance within the Nations League and beyond.

Netherlands

The last 4 years has seen nothing but doom and gloom for the Netherlands, having failed to qualify for the last two major tournaments.

The retirements and natural ageing of some key players has meant a heavy transaction period for the Dutch, who enjoyed such a terrific 2014 World Cup.

Ronald Koeman is currently in charge and will be hoping he can see his side at least Qualify for the 2020 Euros, albeit he has a difficult task in doing so from this group but will be hoping at least the alternative qualifying route could get his side there.

He oversaw his side come from a goal down to beat Peru 2-1 on Thursday, a win that might ask more questions then answer.

The betting angle

France are short here and it is very difficult to see anything but a home win.

The sides met just over a year ago in qualifying and that day saw a comfortable 4-0 victory for the French.

The way they are playing now surely makes them a challenge for any side, but the Netherlands look very average these days and haven’t won a competitive game since last October.

The French possess a lot of attacking talent, especially in the shape of World Cup star Kylian Mbappe and the ever-present Antoinne Griezmann.

The mouthwatering pair should yield French goals and with 5/4 on offer with SkyBet, France on the handicap at -1 seems a safe bet.

Best Bets

France v Netherlands – France -1 handicap (5/4 SkyBet)
