DC United are currently the team on everyone’s lips.

Prior to Wayne Rooney’s arrival they sat rock-bottom of the Eastern Conference and now they have rocketed into playoff contention, with teams looking down at them with dread.

A player who has seriously benefited from the addition of Rooney is Argentinian playmaker, Luciano Acosta. The number 10 has always been a talented player and one of the best in DC’s ranks, but his performances have certainly gone up a notch in the second half of the season.

Just last Thursday, Acosta was announced as the MLS Player of the Month for September after he bagged himself four goals and six assists. All those goals came at home where DC United have been so dominant since moving into Audi Field.

Chicago Fire don’t have anything to play for, whereas DC will be looking to increase the pressure on play-off-chasing rivals, Montreal Impact, who are hanging onto that final spot by a thread.

I expect a DC United win; however, the value is with Luciano Acosta to find the net (2/1 Bet365) and continue his red-hot form into October.

I grew up a Huddersfield Town fan because of my old man, and I still support them to this day (Currently reaping the rewards in the big time). Our typical Saturday consisted of a quick trip to the bookies before spending the afternoon at the football. I’d create a very optimistic 10-fold every weekend and my Dad would kindly throw a couple of quid on – Although they never came in. I fell in love with Major League Soccer a few years ago, it’s an entertaining league and fun to have a punt on. I’m a student sports journalist and I run an award-winning MLS website. My ultimate goal is to move to the United States full-time following my graduation. My main hobbies are the gym, Joe Rogan’s podcast, watching Huddersfield Town, and listening to Oasis
