Scottish Football – Basement boys’ slump to extend on Saturday, says Mr Fixit

THE Daily Record's Mr Fixit (@mrfixittps) casts his eye over the weekend's Scottish football fixtures, highlighting his best bets.

Celtic v Partick Thistle | Saturday 10th February 2018, 12:15 | Sky Sports

Celtic continue their defence of the Scottish Cup at home to Jags and should progress without trouble.

Brendan Rodgers's men are expected to bounce back from last week's defeat at Killie but in their last six meetings at home to Thistle the biggest win was 2-0 and this season they've beaten them 2-0, 1-0 and 2-1.

So it's unlikely to be a hammering but the fact Partick haven't beaten the Hoops since 1995 says it all about their chances.

They've netted just one goal in their last eight trips to Parkhead and Celtic have only conceded once in six at home, so take a home win to nil at 37/40 with BetVictor.

Aberdeen v Dundee United | Sunday 11th February 2018, 16:30 | Sky Sports

Aberdeen are miles ahead of New Firm rivals Dundee United.

The Dons are back up to second in the top flight after three wins in a row, scoring 10 goals, since their latest defeat to Rangers.

Derek McInnes' men should be too far strong for a Championship side that's suffered two heavy defeats in four – 3-0 at home to Morton and 6-1 at Falkirk.

Ladbrokes have priced the hosts up at a fairly generous 4/11 so the Dons -1 is my pick at 11/10 with bet365.

Cowdenbeath v Stirling Albion | Saturday 10th February 2018, 15:00

In League Two Stirling should be backed at basement boys Cowdenbeath.

Albion have put together back-to-back wins to climb into the promotion play-off spots after coming through a form slump.

Cowden have just one win in their last 23 games in all competitions and have last four of five in the league, drawing a blank in three of them.

Stirling have won the previous two meetings this season and can make it a hat-trick at 32/25 with Marathon.

Best Bets

Celtic v Partick Thistle – Celtic to win ‘to nil’ (37/40 BetVictor)

Aberdeen v Dundee United – Aberdeen -1 handicap (11/10 Bet365)

Cowdenbeath v Stirling – Stirling to win (33/25 Marathon)
