Serie A: A renewed focus on home could reap dividends for Sassuolo

ON a stunning run of form for WLB, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) is back with Sunday best bets in Serie A.

Pescara v Cagliari | Sunday 14:00

I like to say that Cagliari are the Werder Bremen of Italy as this team have registered Over 2.5 in 13 of their 14 matches.

Things might go to again on Sunday when facing Pescara who have the third worst defense in the league, and despite some offensive problems as well I expect them to snap their two home-game streak without scoring a goal. They’ve managed to score twice against Roma showing an improved quality and maybe some renewed hopes of avoid relegation.

Sampdoria v Torino | Sunday 14:00 | Setanta Ireland

These are two of the most entertaining sides in the league and I expect a brilliant match with goals and not much defensive tactics from  the beginning.

Torino under Sinisa Mijalovic are an offensive match, having the second best attack in the league with an incredible capacity to find the net for their open-minded manager. On the other hand Sampdoria never refuse an open battle, while also lacking in defensive solidity. That is why I expect Over 2.5 goals here.

Sassuolo v Empoli | Sunday 14:00

Sassuolo’s run in the Europa League has just finished against Athletic Bilbao after some wonderful gams that unfortunately could not provide them a place in the Round of 32.

The EL campaign has cost them much in terms of domestic performance, where they just sit a bunch of points ahead of the relegation zone. They are clearly under-performing for their standards.

I think that now things will finally change for them, especially when facing Empoli, one of the weakest side in the entire league. So I expect the home side to come back to the usual standards.
