LA LIGA expert Callum Read (@CallumRead) highlights the value from Friday night's encounter between Malaga and Sporting Gijon.

Malaga and Sporting Gijon have had disappointing seasons thus far from their own expectations.

Juande Ramos’ hosts currently sit in 11th and are just three points off the relegation zone. The visitors occupy that 18th-place relegation spot and have won only twice this term, losing five times.

At La Rosaleda this season, Malaga have been beaten just once, against Barcelona – a fixture that ended 1-0. Their other four fixtures have seen the home side win three and draw.

Away from home, Abelardo’s side have been incredibly disappointing and are without a win. In fact, Sporting have failed to win their last 12 away on the road, whilst Malaga have won five of their last six when welcoming Gijon to La Rosaleda.

I’ve been exploring the Total Goals market for this fixture – Malaga’s last three home games have finished:

  • 4-0 Leganes
  • 2-1 v Athletic Bilbao
  • 2-1 v Eibar

It’s easy to see that goals have been prominent in their last three games, whilst Sporting have suffered 5-0 and a couple of 2-1 defeats in their last three defeats on their travels.

With Malaga’s three-game unbeaten run coming to an end in a valiant performance at Atletico Madrid last weekend, they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways this weekend. And it should be on the cards with Sporting winless in seven La Liga games.

I’m liking the look of the Match Result and Over 1.5 Goals Market – Malaga have scored at least two goals in their last three home games, and as I’ve already said, have won five of their last six home games against Sporting.

Malaga to win and Over 1.5 Goals is available to support at 13/10 with BetStars.
