Real Sociedad v Getafe | Thursday 19.30 | Sky Sports 5

New Getafe head coach Juan Esnaider was handed a tough first assignment on Saturday with the Blues hosting a rampant Real Madrid. El Geta slumped to a 5-1 reverse to make it just two points from a possible 39 since mid-January.

The club from the capital were sitting pretty in 10th back in January but that rotten run – in which Getafe have fired blanks on nine occasions – has seen Getafe slide right down to the bottom of the La Liga standings.

Esnaider’s men boast the division’s worst away record in the Spanish top-flight this term (W1-D2-L13) and arresting that woeful run of results looks unlikely come Thursday night with Pedro Leon and Damian Suarez both banned and Emiliano Velazquez carrying a heavy knock.

El Geta have suffered sevens successive away defeats – failing to score in each of their past six – with an eight loss on the spin breaking a new club record for consecutive La Liga losses. The visitors have shipped at least two goals in each of those seven reverses and netted just nine on their travels all season.

Real Sociedad have recovered well from the David Moyes experiment with Eusebio Sacristan dragging the team into mid-table. The Basques inconsistencies though have seen them see off Barcelona at Anoeta in their last home outing before falling to a dour 2-1 derby defeat to Eibar last time out.

Still, La Real’s rock-solid home record should stand the side in good stead with the hosts recording W6-D3-L2 at Anoeta since Eusebio arrived on the scene, including W4-D3-L1 in their most recent eight. Sociedad have leaked just five goals in those eight games.

There are two strong odds-against options worth recommending here, beginning with the W-W double result at 31/21 (888). Getafe have been behind at the break in all 13 of their away defeats this term and trailed after 45 minutes in 11 of their last 12 games as guests.

Since the start of last season, the Madrid-based side have lost 26/35 (74%) of their away days with the L-L double result banking in 23/35 (66%). That 66% implies odds as short as 8/15 on a repeat so I’ll happily snap up the juicy 31/21.

The home win ‘to nil’ also appeals at 13/8 (BetVictor). As already mentioned, Getafe have been dreadful in front of goal, scoring just nine when on their travels this season.

Include 2014/15 and the visitors have been silenced in 18/35 (51%) of their matches outside the Coliseum, recording just two clean sheets with 13 of their most recent 18 league losses on the road have been ‘to nil’.

Only Sporting Gijon have posted a lesser shots-on-target ratio figure than Getafe and when playing away the Blues have averaged just a pathetic 29% of the total shots-on-target, landing only 2.56 per-game.

So another blank looks like it could be on the cards here seeing as Sociedad have kept a reasonable 12/35 (34%) clean sheets at Anoeta.
