How do you solve a problem like Sergio Aguero? That is the conundrum that Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini will attempt to provide an answer to yet again when the Premier League leaders travel to take on Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

To be fair to City, they have still managed to dig out some good results without Aguero – and playmaker David Silva – in their last few matches – but only just.

Yaya Toure provided the last-gasp relief with a late, late winner for Pellegrini's side against Norwich City in the Premier League at the weekend, while Kevin De Bruyne did likewise when Sevilla visited Manchester last month.

There was also a goalless draw at Old Trafford in a Manchester derby that could have had football stopped, while a sprinkling of stardust has been provided by thumping 5-1 wins over AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively, the latter of those two results coming in the Capital One Cup.

The trip to Sevilla, though, represents a significant step up in gear for City and they might well be nervous about making the trip to take on Unai Emery's men.

You see, Manchester City have rarely made life easy for themselves in this competition, while Tuesday's hosts have looked particularly comfortable on home turf in recent weeks.

Sevilla have won four of their last five home matches in all competitions, scoring an impressive 14 goals – a sequence of results that includes a 2-1 win against Barcelona.

Sevilla are a better side than their current position of mid-table mediocrity suggests and they are more than capable of making Mauricio Pellegrini's side miserable on Tuesday night.

A win for the hosts will blow Group D wide open, and with both Aguero and Silva left kicking their heels on the sidelines, I can't resist taking a chance on Unai Emery's continuing their recent run of good home form.
