NFL Tips | 8th November 2015

NFL nut Louis Ross (@LouisRoss67) is back with his best bets from Sunday’s action.

Washington Redskins @ New England Patriots | Sunday 18.00

The NFL is almost founded on the principal that the draft system will always level the playing field. No team can dominate for long. That is true of 31 franchises. The exception to the rule for over 15 years now, is Bill Bellichick and his New England Patriots.

I expected a winning season of course but did even the most one-eyed New England fan think they would start 7-0!? Again!?

Washington have somehow won three games. There are shocks in the NFL every week. Not a chance of that happening here though. The 18th ranked defence is up against Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Deion Lewis etc etc.

The 14-point handicap could be obliterated but I rarely play the double-digit bets with too many garbage time points when games are long over.

Of course, New England are going to take the Redskins apart and I prefer a favourite play of mine in these type of games. Brady and his men to score in every quarter at 11/10 with Bet365.

Washington will try their best to take time off the clock with the run but the Pats can march downfield at pace. It’s my NAP of the week, no doubt.

Atlanta Falcons @ San Francisco 49ers | Sunday 21.05

Man these 49ers are in a mess. I wrote in my pre-season preview that losing over a third of your roster in a one-off season was going to hurt and San Fran are as predicted (by everybody) in a world of pain.

As if things could not get any worse after a season start that saw the loss of numbers one, two and three on the rushing depth chart, they are now deciding to bench franchise quarterback Colin ‘nobody likes me’ Kaepernick.

As if all that, and the fact that draft bust Blaine Gabbert starts under centre wasn’t bad enough, now we have the news that Anquan Boldin will not suit up on Sunday. The 49ers now have an Arsenal standard injury list.

I have been burnt many times by Atlanta this season and in truth they have not been great the last three weeks but surely they only have to turn up here.

Seven is an important number in NFL handicap betting and that’s why the -6.5 offer from BetBright is a standout. Falcons win easily as Devonta goes for 100-plus against the 23rd ranked rush defence in the NFL.

Tampa Bay Bucaneers @ New York Giants | Sunday 21.05

The Giants were involved in of the best and worst games ever last weekend -beaten 52-49 by New Orleans in the third highest scoring game in history. Still, New Orleans were a nice winner for us last week, scoring in every quarter.

The Giants have real trouble defending the long ball and here they are up against a rookie Quaterback who loves to give it some air and a Tampa team that, although not winning too many games, is generally taking teams apart on the ground through Doug Martin.

You know the way these things work. Involved in a 101-point game one week probably means a 17-7 bore fest here. Sod’s law.

But I really can’t see anything but another shootout. Neither team can defend and 49.5 is a really nice line for total points. Beckham scoring another couple would not surprise. Eli has found his groove recently.

Best Bets

Washington Redskins @ New England Patriots – New England Patriots to score in every quarter (11/10 Bet365)

I have been interested in betting since a stint managing a bookmakers 20 years ago. I now work in the travel industry but spend 90% of my day thinking (and talking)about sport. Rarely missing an Arsenal home game, I still find time for my 25 year obsession with the NFL and the Chicago Bears in particular. I'm still stuck in the 80's and can't find anything better to listen to than The Jam or The Smiths. I am a stats junkie where the NFL is concerned and there is no sport in the world where they matter more. My mission is to convert you all to a wonderful sport. Oh and win a few quid along the way.
