CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is heading to Spain on Friday night for his next best bookings bet.
Levante v Real Betis | Friday 19.30 | Sky Sports 3
Some of you have messaged me with concerns about going over on cards as high as 7.5, so please indulge me in a brief story as it relates to my recommendation on Friday night.
Whilst at university I dabbled in the odd baseball bet. Most lines were Over or Under 9 total runs in the match. However, when Colorado Rockies played a home game the line was more like 12.5.
I kept betting Under, thinking it was a mistake. More often than not the games were very high scoring. Why? Because the air at altitude in Colorado was thinner and so there were plenty of home runs scored.
The moral of the story is, if the line is high, it is usually for good reason. That logic applies to cards in Spain and leads me onto this week’s action.
Real Betis travel to lowly Levante in a game that promises to be a bit of a dogfight.
The referee in this one is Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez and he loves a card, averaging 7.40 per-game.
Levante average 3.17 cards-per-game and Betis a healthy 2.75. However, I think Betis are a dirtier side than that stat suggests.
This referee looks one to follow and I’m backing Over 65 bookings points at 4/6 with William Hill.
If you’re new to bookings points – a yellow card earns 10 points and a red card earns 25 points. If a player receives 2 yellow cards and is consequently shown a red card, he receives a total of 35 booking points.
