CELTIC look to build on their draw against Ajax when they face Fenerbahce on Thursday night. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) looks at the odds.

Celtic v Fenerbahce | Thursday 20:05 | BT Sport 2

Celtic look a good bet on Thursday night against Fenerbahce. Here's why:

Two weeks ago they went to Amsterdam and secured a superb draw against Ajax. This was despite their awful away record in Europe and it came against a huge gamble for Frank de Boer's side.

Celtic have suffered on their travels in European competition and went into the game two weeks ago with a record of P12 W0 D5 L7 away from home (excluding Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round). Their point in Amsterdam was a real step up and something they'll gain confidence from.

Celtic's home form is much stronger. In the last three years they've beaten the likes of Barcelona, Ajax, Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Zagreb and Malmo at Celtic Park and can be a potent force on their day.

Last season they struggled in Glasgow against Legia Warsaw and Maribor but manager Ronny Deila had just arrived and the club were in a transitional state.

Despite Champions League elimination, results in Europe have improved this season and the home wins over Malmo and Qarabag shouldn't be underestimated.

While people enjoy throwing bricks at Scottish football, the Turkish game is hardly in a great state either. Galatasaray were humiliated in the Champions League last season as they picked up just one point from their group and they couldn't beat Astana on Wednesday night in this year's version.

Fenerbahce themselves have struggled in Europe this year and were convincingly knocked out by Shakhtar Donetsk in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. It hasn't got any better in the Europa League either as they succumbed to a 3-1 home loss to Molde two weeks ago.

At 8/5 Celtic look enticing on Thursday night. Traditionally strong at home and up against a side with a fearsome name but with a limp record they can take the three points.

  1. Good luck with that one Chris, I will be cheering Celtic on for sure but I am backing goals.

A 2-1 or 3-0 home win will do me nicely.

I have also invested in Bitton(11/1) and Boyata(18/1) AGS as they look overpriced. 40/1 for Byata FGS is also very tempting but the AGS will do nicely if one or both come in. I’m not greedy, both will do 😀

Good shout Sir. Certainly was a game for goals. Really disappointed they couldn’t win the game after having such a commanding lead early in the match. Will be interesting to see if we see any effect from game when they return to domestic duty on Sunday.
