CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is following his favourite whistle-blower for a Monday night bookings bet in La Liga.
Sporting Gijon v Granada | Monday 19.30 | Sky Sports 2
Senor Confetti – need I say more?
He takes charge of the seemingly dour encounter between Sporting Gijon and Granada on the Monday night. Well, the bookies don’t think it will be dour.
Over/Under 7.5 cards was initially priced an 11/10 shot but has steadily been backed into odds of (10/11). A red card in this game is a very skinny 11/8.
I have tried to analyse Senor Confetti’s stats but to be honest there are no patterns. With some referees there are patterns i.e. they may typically give more cards in the second-half or give more to the away team etc.
With Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo, he can flash a card at anytime. He averages 7.75 cards-per-game. In four fixtures he’s already out 28 yellows and three reds.
Izquierdo tends to officiate lower key games. Interestingly, he has refereed Granada on three previous occasions and it is fair to say, that he has some history…
Confetti has dished out an amazing 36 cards in those three matches including five reds. He has sent at least one Granada player off each time.
This season, these two teams are relatively disciplined. In seven games Sporting have collected 20 yellows and a red. Granada have received 18 yellows and a red.
Essentially, I think this bet comes down to Senor Confetti and his inability to keep his cards in his pocket. I’m taking the even-money on Over 6 Cards with William Hill.
