THERE’S a bet in Friday T20 Blast action that’s caught eye our man Josh Healey’s (@joshhealey04) eye.
Derbyshire v Lancashire | Friday 19:00 | Sky Sports 2
Yesterday’s losses really took the wind out of my sails as we should’ve had two winners, but an awful dropped catch and some even worse captaincy scuppered our bets. Hopefully lady luck is on our side this evening.
Tonight I’m having a punt on Ashwell Prince to claim top Lancashire batsman at an excellent price of 7/2 with Betfred. Lancashire demolished Derbyshire in the County Championship this week, with the veteran batsman notching a colossal 230 runs in the only innings his side had to bat. No doubt he’ll be relishing the opportunity of facing some of these bowlers once again.
Prince claimed top batsman in Lancashire’s previous T20 outing last Friday with an impressive 78, and the South African proved last season that big scores are not a one off for him as he racked up 372 runs at an average of 46.5, including three half-centuries.
Prince is the in-form batsman for the Red Rose at the moment; his experience is invaluable and it could pay dividends once again with the away side looking to get back to winning ways after a shoddy performance last time out.
As well as this, I’m backing a win treble of Surrey, Leicestershire and Lancashire at 4.6/1 with William Hill. Surrey travel to Kent who were walloped by 115 runs at Middlesex last night.
Although their batting is dangerous, their bowling looks to be lacking, and against a star-studded Surrey batting line up that could see them struggle. Surrey have registered scores above 200 in both their games this season, and with Azhar Mahmood and Moises Henriques joining the ranks they look increasingly powerful with both bat and ball.
Leicestershire travel to Worcestershire who have lost one from one after they were bowled out for just 126 at Warwickshire. Meanwhile the Foxes are two from two after their bowlers did a fantastic job restricting Durham last night before the experienced middle order polished off a simple win. Leicestershire look a different beast this season and they have all the momentum going into this encounter.
To complete the treble I’m backing my own side Lancashire to do the business at Derbyshire. The Red Rose are one from two and in this match they will be boosted by the return of Paul Horton and the introduction of James Faulkner. Lancashire have a versatile bowling attack and an experienced batting line up, with a couple of young guns in there too.
Derbyshire have lost two from two and are looking average once again; last year’s finalists should be able to get back on track with a win here.
