A lovely winner from Josh Healey (@joshhealey04) in yesterday’s IPL action. He’s back to cover Wednesday’s game for us below.
Royal Challengers Bangalore v Rajasthan Royals | Wednesday 15.00 | Sky Sports 2
Rajasthan will be looking for revenge when they travel to Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon after they were comprehensively beaten by their opponents last Friday. The Royals only managed to post 130-9 which Bangalore then chased down with nine wickets and 23 balls to spare.
I don’t think this encounter will be as one sided though; Rajasthan have had time to regroup after their last game was washed out, and they’ll be rested up and raring to go here.
In this fixture last season, the Royals pulled off an incredible run chase. They were 126-5 needing 65 runs from the last four overs, and Steve Smith and James Faulkner miraculously powered them home with seven balls to spare!
My bet for this game is ‘Most Runs To Be Scored In An Over – Over 18.5’. This is available at 5/6 with Stan James. This season it would’ve been a winner in 3/4 of RCB’s games, including all three at the Chinnaswamy, and in 4/7 for Rajasthan.
Last season it would’ve won in 10/14 of RCB’s games, in 6/6 at the Chinnaswamy, and in 8/14 for Rajasthan including 4/5 away from home. When you assess the records at the Chinnaswamy in seasons prior to that, you find that this bet would’ve landed in 6/8 in 2013, 7/8 in 2012, and 4/6 in 2011.
Totting up the stats purely from games at the Chinnaswamy shows that this bet would’ve won in all of the last nine games there, and in 26/31 from 2011-15. That’s an alarming success rate of 83.9%.
It’s an excellent batting pitch at the Chinnaswamy, the boundaries are small, and there’s a plethora of big hitters on show. Of course both bowling attacks do have quality in their ranks, but they also have bowlers that can be expensive.
A high scoring game would certainly improve the chances of this bet landing, and with the average 1st innings total from the last nine IPL games at the Chinnaswamy being 180, there’s a good chance of that happening.
The bottom line is though, that we just need one or two of the big hitters to go berserk for one over.
Royal Challengers Bangalore v Rajasthan Royals – Most Runs To Be Scored In An Over – Over 18.5 (5/6 Stan James)
