IPL fanatic Josh Healey (@joshhealey04) has spotted some value in today’s game. He’s shared it with us.
Delhi v Kolkata | Monday 15:30 | Sky Sports 2
I expected Delhi to have another poor season but after losing their opening two games they’ve bounced back very well, winning two in a row. Their side is full of quality but more importantly it’s settled; the only issue for them is in the pace department, where they are lacking due to injuries.
Meanwhile, Kolkata haven’t played their best cricket yet but have managed to pick up two wins in three. Last time out, their top-middle order capitulated only for Andre Russell and Yusuf Pathan to come to the rescue and see them home comfortably in the end.
These two sides will be feeling confident going into what is quite an important game even at this early stage. It’s third against fourth and a win for either side would help them pull away from the chasing pack.
Again I turn my attention to the sixes market. Bad form has clouded my decision making this IPL and I’ve been very indecisive, but as soon as I saw this match-up I knew what my bet was going to be. I’m going for Over 10.5 sixes, which is available at 5/6 with Stan James.
This bet would’ve landed in 3/4 of Delhi’s games this season, including all of the last three, whilst it would’ve won in all three of Kolkata’s matches up to now.
At the Feroz Shah Kotla last season, 11 or more sixes were scored in 3/4 games. There’s been one game there this season (Delhi v Rajasthan), and 18 sixes were hit in what was a high scoring encounter.
The pitch was a good one for batting in that match as Rajasthan managed to chase down Delhi’s total of 184 in a last ball thriller. The average 1st innings score at Kotla from IPL’s 2012-14 was 160, but Delhi’s recent total of 184 showed that something around the 175 mark may be par this season.
The boundaries are short and both sides are packed with big-hitters capable of clearing the ropes; hopefully they can do that enough times to fetch us a winner.
