Scottish Football Tip | 7th March 2015

HEARTS fan Willie Duncan (@Willie_Duncan) is eyeing up a League One team this week in Scotland.

Morton v Forfar | Saturday 15:00

Have you ever seen your team score ten goals in one game? If you have, you'll understand why it has taken so long for me to be scraped down from the ceiling (read sober up) following Hearts' sensational 10-0 demolition of Cowdenbeath last Saturday.

Luckily, though, I've regained my composure just in time to give you my best bet from Scotland this weekend – and my tip comes from the very top of League One.

The mere mention of Jim Duffy may send a shiver down the spine of both Hearts and Hibs fans, but down at Cappielow, the 55-year-old may never have to buy a pint again if Greenock Morton secure promotion to the Scottish Championship at the end of the current campaign.

Morton are top of a tight table, but are in great form at present, having lost just one of their last 10 league games. This weekend, Duffy's side play host to Forfar Athletic and I'm expecting the Greenock Morton bandwagon to roll on here.

Dick Campbell's side certainly don't lack experience, with 39-year-old defender Darren Dods, 42-year-old goalkeeper Rab Douglas and 34-year-old forward Chris Templeman forming the spine of the side.

What Forfar lack, though, is consistency. They have won three and lost three of their last six matches and that's simply not good enough to maintain a serious title challenge.

Morton showed that they have the stomach for a title fight, picking up four points from six in tricky ties against nearest challengers Brechin City and Stranraer last month and they are irresistible on home turf this weekend.

Morton are 19/20 with Coral to bag another three points on Saturday and I'll be siding with Jim Duffy's men to be toasting another vital victory at full-time on Saturday. It's little wonder that Morton's fans can't get enough of that wonderful Duff…

  1. Glad to see you siding with this one Willie, I am on it too. Morton’s signings in the transfer window are proving to be exceptionally shrewd with 9 goals between three of them. Not sure if McDonald will play today but with Aberdeen loan signing Declan McManus bagging 4 in 4 and Stefan McCluskey fresh of a midweek hattrick he likely won’t be missed.
