Anytime Goalscorer Tip | 6th January 2015

WE’RE delighted to welcome Danny Mercer (@OneDannyMercer) to our stable of esteemed football experts and his debut post includes a goalscorer bet from Tuesday’s FA Cup action.

Scunthorpe United v Chesterfield | Tuesday 19.45

Scunthorpe face Chesterfield in the third round of the FA Cup with the prize being a tie against Derby. That’s a big incentive for the visitors with potential bragging rights at stake against their county rivals.

Some fans might suggest the Spireites don’t deserve to be here having already being found guilty of fielding an ineligible player against MK Dons in the second round. But Chesterfield replayed the fixture and again ran out winners, 1-0.

These sides have met twice already this season; Scunthorpe won their Football League Trophy clash back in September whilst the Spireites claimed the honours in the league meeting. So who’ll come good on Tuesday night?

I believe this match will come down to which striker is on song. So will it be in-form Paddy Madden for Scunthorpe or goalscoring machine Eoin Doyle for Chesterfield?

Doyle has a hugely impressive 17 goals to his name in all competitions for 2014/15. He also loves cup competitions – netting four in his last five domestic cup games.

What’s more, the Irishman hit a hat-trick the last time he faced the Iron and also grabbed a goal in the previous meeting, making it four goals in two games against Scunny. With such an impressive strike-rate, it’s Doyle who gets the nod at a lovely 6/4 with Ladbrokes to score.

I was brought into the betting world from a young age when my parents asked me to pick out a few horses. I’ve been hooked since but only seriously started punting in the past four years. I’ve used my wealth of knowledge from the English game along with my passion for stats and trends to try to find that winning angle. I work hard but enjoy nothing more than studying the form in the hope of getting that extra edge, whether it be from the non-leagues or the Premier League. And if I can help anyone pocket a few quid, it makes the hard work even more worthwhile.
